Born Fe Liza Ramone Bencosme Benjamin in the vibrant metropolis of New York City, Fe's cultural tapestry is woven from the rich heritage of Caribbean immigrants hailing from the verdant landscapes of the Cibao region in the Dominican Republic and the serene shores of St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands. From her earliest days, Fe's upbringing unfolded amidst the kaleidoscope of three distinct cultures, a nomadic journey that traversed continents and imbued her with a global perspective.
In the idyllic innocence of her childhood, Fe reveled in a world untainted by the shadows of skin color and racial discord. However, the transition to American high school marked a pivotal juncture, where she was abruptly confronted with the rigid constructs of skin tones and racial categories, thrusting her into a disconcerting awareness. This awakening galvanized her resolve, and today, Fe stands vigilant against an ideology that seeks to impose a racialized lens upon impressionable minds, robbing them of their innate curiosity and freedom, and imperiling the vision of a harmoniously flourishing society.
Her odyssey across continents has endowed Fe with a panoramic vista of the world's diverse tapestry of peoples. Embarking on numerous solo journeys and leveraging her tenure as a publicist for an esteemed international hotel corporation, she traversed the globe, immersing herself in the kaleidoscope of cultures. Notably, her sojourn in the Middle East following the seismic events of 9/11 served as a crucible, fostering a deeper understanding of the region's intricate tapestry amidst the crucible of conflict.
Transitioning into her second career as an educator, Fe's trajectory led her to George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, during the early 2010s, where she was unsettled by the encroachment of progressive theories within higher education. Subsequently, her academic pursuits in Pennsylvania further underscored the prevalence of such ideologies, culminating in a poignant reckoning following a contentious episode over race and identity with a fellow colleague, prompting her departure from the teaching profession altogether.
Today, Fe calls Houston, Texas, home, where she continues to champion a narrative that eschews the shackles of racialized identities, urging others to transcend the confines of societal labels by steadfastly refusing to "check the box." In her advocacy, Fe embodies a beacon of resilience, tirelessly endeavoring to foster a world where individuals are celebrated for their intrinsic humanity, unbound by the constraints of artificial divisions.
